VPS a real need for high traffic websites
If you have many websites or a small number of websites but with a big traffic you need a VPS.
Shared accounts how the names says are shared, even if they told you that you have 5000GB space and 80000GB bandwidth, you will most probably get an account termination or a warning when you will use 10% of that resources.
Because as many webmasters you don’t have only static pages, and if you do have you are limited by CPU usage and memory usage, a server can’t really handle an infinite amount of traffic and bandwidth.
Are webhosting companies that tell you that you have for 7$ or 9$ UNLIMITED or UNMETERED bandwidth and also webhosting space.
That is a marketing promotion way, a bad one to caught novices, everything is LIMITED, even if they have a datacenter for all there servers that are quad-core intel, there is a limit, even if it is a high one is still is there.
VPS up-time checkers
As many companies offer 99,99% up-time you should also check before you sign in how much time is included MAX per month for VPS.
They can “work” to the server 1-2 hours a month if they want.
In general is under 1 minutes for month, but you can have a bigger downtime because datacenter problems, naturally disasters, fires, are not covered in almost ALL situations!
So be careful what VPS company you choose.
VPS ping time
Before you join, check that VPS company location, is close to you?
Can it be accessed fast from over the world?
For that you need to use a ping service or your friends to check out.
Be aware, before you need a ping service you may need there approval, some companies could consider this as flood.
If you live in Romania you may get a 130-160 ms as response when pinging a server in US and vice-versa, this is normal.
If you have a big part of you traffic from Europe, you probably want a VPS in Europe because you get a faster response and the visitors see your websites in a shorter period.
VPS security settings
Are many websites that show you how to secure your VPS.
I recommend you to have in the first place a very complex password, don’t use known names or words from dictionary use something like: GVFG43&^hfgh
Save your password in more than 1 place, if it is only on your computer you can forget it so choose an alternative, CD, memory stick.
Also note your HyperVM password and LxAdmin if you use it on an alternative place.
In a other post I will talk more about securing the VPS.
This is all for now.

Great work! I also have my own blog I just find it hard to write quality content like this.
I guess I really don’t have the time.
