Here is my opinion about this web hosting company from UK.
They set-up quick the VPS.
Good quality - low downtimes.
Fast support – they respond fast to your tickets.
And I think that they have a unfair TOS, I talk about pcsmarthosting.com, a company based in UK.
I used there services for almost 1 week.
I wanted to not use the VPS anymore, and I obtained exactly what is wrote in there TOS that I agreed with.
I want this kind of TOS to be considered NOT FAIR because can affect a client income, and increase the income of the web hosting company.
A company must make money from the difference between cost and price, not by using terms in the TOS that can affect a client financial result.
Off-topic. On a large number of web hosting companies I found TOS like:
“We can change our TOS without any prior notice”.
This means that a company can change the TOS even when you sleep and force your to comply, by this way a company can abuse and terminate your paid service based on there TOS.
I agree with the comment about TOS and this company does seem to have an unusual concept of online marketing. In the few days since I first encountered them, the price advertised on their website has changed twice and is now 40% more than it was less than a week ago. What you see on the front page is not necessarily what you’ll be asked to pay at the checkout! This is because allegedly the cost of their software licenses has increased due to exchange rate changes so they have been forced to revise their services. None of this inspires confidence but you have one salvation…
The terms of the contract can be seen as patently unfair so in UK law the contract is unlawful and cannot be enforced. Personally I would not recommend this company and advise anyone who is contemplating using them as a reliable host should look elsewhere. Try 4U Hosting for reliable service and although not the cheapest, they offer a service that ranks above average and I recommend them. However wait until January when their packages are being revised and a better deal will be on offer.
To follow up on my previous review, a lot has changed since then. Having tried the service and experienced the customer support, my opinion has changed drastically and 4 months later I am happy to recommend PC Smarthosting for several reasons.
First they respond to support inquiries faster than any other hosting company I know and they will investigate any issues you might have without merely presuming that it is your setup to blame. They will explain or suggest something and so far there are no issues they haven’t been able to resolve quickly – often within an hour. Do these guys ever sleep?
Second, they actually explain if there are any interruptions to service and let you know exactly when and why, not just a bland ‘planned maintenance’ statement and broad ‘maybe’ window. This means you can anticipate any possibility of downtime and whatever a host tells you, computers do sometimes break so nobody can guarantee 100% uptime at these prices.
What is REALLY exceptional and useful, especially if you’re new to the game, is that you can pay for your hosting as you require it and you’re not tied up to a lengthy contract. Start small and add to your package as you need. If for some reason you don’t want or need the service later, just give them proper notice and that’s it! No penalties or cessation charges.
The fact is that this company actually knows the business of hosting. They are not trying to be the cheapest – they certainly are trying to be the best and I am now happy to recommend them without reservation.
Full marks for listening to your customers and actually doing something about it – now that’s what I call ‘First Class’ hosting.
