DownTownHost my new webhost
Yesterday I bought 1 month hosting from DownTownHost.
There servers are located in USA.
In the present I don’t have high traffic but when I will have I want a plan big like this and they don’t offer custom plans so my choice was the smaller plan bronze, with 5 GB disk space, 100 GB bandwidth, unlimited Mysql, unlimited domain add-ons, unlimited email addresses. I pay semi-annually around 13$ per month.
In Europe I get all this at higher prices, I don’t include companies that oversell.
About there quality I will talk after a little while because I use there service only from yesterday.
The only thing that I can say I noticed, is there fast response to my questions.
I get a response under 30 minutes if it is day-time in USA, if not, 6-8 hours.
Before that I was with a2b2.com, for 1 month.
The problem with a2b2.com was a downtime of almost 3 hours that I don’t thing that has been caused because of the datacenter.
Review a2b2 has great people that try to fix the problems but sometime they ignore them.
I have a problem with a file loaded by a dating script asking them to delete for me because it had a not permitted name but they never deleted it, even after I insisted and also was a pro.
Before a2b2 I was with hostgator, they where great but I read about there problems when you start having high traffic, if the website use a lot php and mysql database, so I chosen to move before I get into problems.
Before hostgator I used mxhost (1 year with mxhost), a romanian provider for webhosting, there problem was downtimes from my location, I did not used a service to check the up-time, I did not know that I could check for free at 30 minutes interval and what is the risk for checking at that interval.
This was my endeavor in webhosting world.
PS: Today (15-May-2008) I’m not using anymore there web hosting service due to a problem with http up-time.
