Unfair TOS that some webhosting companies use
Some webhosting companies use unfair TOS.
When only some of them use such TOS, there is no problem, but when the majority of them start using them it would be a problem.
I used from them a VPS, but they has the same terms today 22-June-2008 for shared/vps/dedicated servers.
Let’s take the case of pcsmarthosting.com from UK.
They inform the client in there TOS that they will terminate a client account as soon as they receive the cancellation request.
This mean that if you pay on the first day of a month and you ask to not continue the service next month, and you tell them in advance about this on 14 of the month you will loose HALF of your money based on the TOS, they delete your data on 14, from 15 to 30 0 service for your money and no refund.
Is it fair?
If you buy a dedicated server and you pay 300 dollars/euro for eat you loose 50%, because of there TOS.
If there are more companies from where you can choose from there is absolutely no problem, but if the number of webhosting companies with FAIR TOS decreases, you have a problem.
A financial barrier used to change your mind in some cases about moving.
If you wait the 29 day, you also pay for the next invoice, because you must to tell them with 10 days in advance!
a2b2.com UK based too has a similar TOS, but they care about clients wants, closed my account at the end of the paid billing cycle.
